'God has no mercy on one who has no mercy for others.'
'None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.'
'He who eats his fill while his neighbor goes without food is not a believer.'
'The truthful and trusty businessman is associated with the prophets the saints, and the martyrs.'
'Powerful is not he who knocks the other down, indeed powerful is he who controls himself in a fit of anger.'
'God does not judge according to your bodies and appearances but He scans your hearts and looks into your deeds.'
'A man walking along a path felt very thirsty. Reaching a well he descended into it, drank his fill and came up. Then he saw a dog with its tongue hanging out, trying to lick up mud to quench its thirst. The man saw that the dog was feeling the same thirst as he had felt so he went down into the well again and filled his shoe with water and gave the dog a drink. God forgave his sins for this action.' The Prophet was asked: 'Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?' He said, 'There is a reward for kindness to every living thing.'
From the hadith collections of Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi and Bayhaqi.

The Prophet said: 'Charity is a necessity for every Muslim.' He was asked:
'What if a person has nothing?'
The Prophet replied: 'He should work with his own hands for his benefit and then give something out of such earnings in charity.'
The Companions asked: 'What if he is not able to work?'
The Prophet said: 'He should help poor and needy persons.'
The Companions further asked 'What if he cannot do even that?'
The Prophet said 'He should urge others to do good.'
The Companions said 'What if he lacks that also?'
The Prophet said 'He should check himself from doing evil. That is also charity.' ⭐ ⭐

The Messenger of God said:
'The most perfect in faith amongst believers is he who is best in manner and kindest to his wife.'

The Prophet taught that 'Paradise lies at the feet of mothers'. When they reach old age, Muslim parents are treated mercifully, with the same kindness and selflessness.

The Prophet taught that three things can continue to help a person even after death; charity which he had given, knowledge which he had taught and prayers on their behalf by a righteous child.

The Prophet said: 'Ask God for certainty [of faith] and well-being; for after certainty, no one is given any gift better than health!'

The Prophet (SAWS) said, "…. no one is humble (for the sake of Allah) unless Allah raises him [in rank].

The Prophet (SAWS) said, "He who is humble for the sake of Allah by a degree, Allah will elevate him one degree, until he reaches the highest degrees and he who is arrogant toward Allah, Allah will lower him one degree until he reaches the lowest of low degrees.”[6]

The Prophet (SAWS) said, "Allah (SWT[8]) says, He who is humble toward Me like this (and he lowered his palm to the ground until it was leveled with it), I will elevate him like this (and the Prophet (SAWS) raised his palm upwards facing the sky until it was high up)[9].”

The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: Allah (SWT) said: "Pride is my cloak and Might is My robe, and he who competes with Me in [respect of] either of them I shall torment him"[11].

Humility in dress:

This does not mean that you have to dress shabbily or wear torn cloths. On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud, "…A man went to the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, truly I love my dress to be fine, is this a kind of pride?’ He (SAWS) answered, ‘Indeed, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace’.”[16]

Thus, what we should stay away from are extravagant clothes, as this would be showing excessive pride. However, if you dress elegantly with the intention of giving a good impression on the devout Muslims, this is accepted, even favorable. Be careful though, especially the ladies.

The Prophet (SAWS) said, "He who sets aside his garment in humility to Allah (AWJ[18]) while he is able to buy the most expensive of garments will be called by Allah on the Day of Judgment and in front of all other human beings. Allah will then ask him to choose whatever garment of faith he wishes to wear."[19]

Humility with servants:

Listen to this part of one of the Prophet's Ahadith, "… (Your slaves are) your brothers whom Allah has put under your command. Feed them with what you eat and dress them with what you wear. Do not ask them to do things beyond their capacity but if you do so, then help them.”[20]

Some Ahadith about trustworthiness:
Ibn-Majah states, "Five prayers, from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer and rendering trusts are an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals)."[3] The same hadith was narrated differently by Abu-Huraira: "Five prayers and from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer are an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals) if major sins are not committed." [4]

It was narrated by Ibada Ibnul-Samet that the Messenger of Allah said, "Guarantee for me to do six things and I shall guarantee for you paradise; be truthful if you speak, keep your word when you promise, render whatever you are entrusted with, protect your private parts (from sin), lower your gaze and do not harm anyone[5]". So, how many of those six do you do?

Allah's Messenger (SAWS) says, “Once Allah wants to perish a servant, He would remove Haia’(modesty) from him. Once Haia’ is removed from him you’ll find him nothing but despicable. Once you find him despicable, honesty is removed from him. Once honesty is removed from him you’ll find him nothing but a treacherous person. Once you find him nothing but treacherous, mercy will be removed from him. Once mercy is removed from him you find him nothing but a damned and a cursed person.”[6]

Allah says what can be translated as, “O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger, and do not betray your deposits while you know that” (TMQ, 8: 27). So, you are being disloyal when you do it knowingly and not out of ignorance.

As narrated by Abu-Huraira, the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: "Three are the signs of a hypocrite: when he speaks he tells a lie, when he makes a promise he acts treacherously against it, when he is trusted he betrays.[9]" These signs are not of the hypocrites who were present during the time of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS), like Abdullah Ibn-Saloul. These signs are pertaining to manners; a far more dangerous type of hypocrisy.

Anas Ibn-Malek reported, "Rarely would Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) give a speech without saying these words, 'There is no faith for he who lacks trustworthiness and there is no religion for he who can't keep a vow."[10]. This hadith is extremely alarming! Does this mean that an untrustworthy person has no faith? Of course not. It means that unless he becomes trustworthy, his faith will never be complete, no matter how submissive he is in his prayer or how bitterly he cries out of remorse or how many times he goes for Hajj or Umrah.

Abu-Huraira narrated, Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) said: “Pay the deposit to him who deposited it with you, and do not betray him who betrayed you”[11]. There are no midways when it comes to being trustworthy. Consider the example of someone who borrows from you three thousand pounds, then betrays you and refuses to pay them back to you. Then it happens that another person entrusts you to deliver another three thousand pounds to that same person who betrayed you. What would you do then? Do you think it would be your right to take this sum of money as compensation? Would you betray him because he once betrayed you? Certainly it is not your right to do so. You should deliver to him his money then ask him for your money. Brothers and sisters, this is a strict Islamic law.

When the Muslims decided to emigrate from Makkah to Madinah, the disbelievers of Quraysh confiscated all their money and wealth. The Muslims were evicted from their homes owing nothing but the clothes they were putting on. However, still Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) paid to the disbelievers all their deposits back. Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibnul-'Aas reported that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) said, "If you have these four qualities you won't have to care about anything that you've missed in this world. These qualities are; keeping what you were entrusted with, being truthful in your talk, having good manners and eating out of good money"[12].

O sister, do you remember that particular bracelet which you have borrowed from your friend, and have never returned till now? And you brother, do you remember that T-shirt which you too have borrowed from your friend and have never returned? See how Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) has stressed this point! In one of the Prophet's ahadith, he said to a Bedouin who asked him about Doomsday, "When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour (Doomsday)"[14]. Can you imagine this! It's one of the signs of Doomsday. Honesty appears here as a natural law, like the sun, the moon and the sky! Once the sun and the moon disappear, then Doomsday quickly follows. Similarly, when trustworthiness is lost, then know that Doomsday is coming close. In the same Hadith, "The Bedouin said, "How will that be lost?" Prophet Muhammad said, "When the power or authority comes in the hands of unfit persons, then wait for the Hour (Doomsday)".

Honesty in Selling, Buying and Doing one's work:

Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) says, "The truthful and honest tradesman is with Prophets, truthful persons and martyrs in the Day of Judgment[17]". A merchant can, thus, be the companion of Prophets Musa (AS)[18] "Moses", Isa (AS) "Jesus" and Muhammad (SAWS) in paradise, only because of his honesty all through his life.

Keeping secrets
Abu-Sa'id Al-Khudri (RA)[20] reported that Allah's Messenger (SAWS) said, "The most wicked among the people in the eye of Allah on the Day of judgment is the man who goes to his wife and she comes to him, and then he divulges her secret"[21]. We all see what happens when a man and his wife get divorced! Endless scandals are spread all around. By so doing, both parties are breaching their vows to Allah. Hence, on the Day of Judgment, they will be severely punished for it. See how severe is the punishment of the divorced couple who are untrustworthy! What will you say, then, of a married couple who are untrustworthy? A wife or a husband who reveals to a friend all his spouse's secrets is surely betraying him. He or she is surely being disloyal to both Allah (AWJ)[22] and his or her spouse. Beware! Untrustworthiness leads to destroying sincere family ties.

The Trust of Protecting Islam:
Allah says what can be translated as, "You have been the most charitable nation brought out to mankind: you command beneficence, and forbid maleficence, and believe in Allah" (TMQ, 3: 110). So why are we considered the most charitable nation brought out to mankind? It is actually because we command beneficence and forbid maleficence. Yet, by what means are you considered a member of this Ummah? Have you really born the responsibility of this religion upon your shoulders? Don’t ever think that it is the responsibility of religion scholars only. Indeed, you too share in it. You are responsible for passing those very words you hear from me to your friends, your fiancée, your father…etc. You should do so in the most polite and tender way. Islam is the responsibility of each and every Muslim. Thus, each and every Muslim will be asked about it on the Day of Judgment.

Allah (SWT) further says what can be translated as, "Allah may torment the male hypocrites and the female hypocrites, and the male associators and the female associators, (i.e., those who associate others with Allah) [Those who betray the trusts they have] and that Allah may relent towards the male believers and the female believers; and Allah has been Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful [Those who accept the responsibility and keep the trust according to Allah's will]" (TMQ, 33: 73).

"There is none amongst the believers who plants a tree, or sows a seed, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats thereof, but it is regarded as having given a charitable gift [for which there is great recompense]." [Al-Bukhari, III]
The idea of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) as a pioneer of environmentalism will initially strike many as strange: indeed, the term "environment" and related concepts like "ecology", "environmental awareness" and "sustainability", are modern-day inventions, terms that were formulated in the face of the growing concerns about the contemporary state of the natural world around us.

The Holy Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) has said: "My Ummah will keep flourishing as long as it retains the following three characteristics - (1) they speak the truth when they talk; (2) they administer justice when they decide the affairs of the people; and (3) they are merciful on weaklings when request for a mercy is made." (All agreed - Abu Ya'la)

Abdullah bin Masud (raa) has reported the Holy Prophet (pbuh) saying, "Adhere to truth, for truth leads to good deeds and good deeds lead to Paradise. If a man continues to speak the truth and makes truth his object, he will be recorded in The Almighty's presence as eminently truthful. Avoid falsehood, for falsehood lead to wickedness and the wickedness leads to Hell; and if a man continues to speak falsehood and makes falsehood his object, he will be recorded in The Almighty's presence as a great liar. (Bukhari - Muslim - Mishkat)

Gratitude
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (raa) has reported the Holy Prophet as saying, "When one of you looks at someone who is superior to him in property and appearance, he should also look at someone who is inferior to him." (Bukhari and Muslim)
A version by Muslim sates, "Look at those who are less fortunate than yourself and do not look at others whom you think are superior to you, for that is more liable to keep you from despising The Almighty's favor to you." Hadrat Suhaib (raa) has reported that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, "It is remarkable that everything turns out well for a believer while that applies only to a believer. If happiness befalls him, he thanks and it turns out well for him; and if misfortune befalls him, he shows endurance and it turns out well for him." (Muslim)
Contentment and Self Satisfaction
Hadrat Abu Said al-Khudri (raa) is reported to have said that some of the Ansar begged from the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and he gave them something. The later begged from him again and he gave them something so that what he had was exhausted. He then said, "What I have, I shall never store away from you, but The Almighty will strengthen the abstinence of him who abstains, will give a competence to him who is satisfied, and will strengthen the endurance of him who shows endurance. No one has been given a better or more ample gift than endurance." (Mishkat)

Frugality
Hadrat Anas (raa) and a few others have reported that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) had said, "Moderation in expenditure is half one's livelihood" (this means that one should speak with caution and deliberation).

Silence
Hadrat Imran bin Husain (raa) reported that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, "It is most excellent in The Almighty's sight for a man to maintain silence than to engage in worship for sixty years." (Mishkat)

Kindness and Stone Heartedness
Hadrat Jarir bin Abdullah (raa) reported that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, "The Almighty will not show mercy to him who does not show mercy to others."

On Eating and Drinking

From Salman (raa): The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) said: "The blessing of food is (received by) washing (the hands) before and washing (the hands) after (taking) it." (Tirmidhi)

Aisha (ra) said that The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) said: "When anyone of you eats, he should invoke the name of Almighty, The Exalted. If he forgets to invoke the name of The Almighty, at the beginning, he should say (when he does remember): "In the name of The Almighty, in its beginning and its and end." (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (raa) said that The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh), when he finished his meal, used to say: "Praise be to The Almighty, who gave us to eat and to drink and made us Muslims." (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi)

Umar Abu bin Salama (raa) said: "I was under the care of The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) and my hand used to pick at random in the dish, so The Almighty's Messenger said to me: 'Invoke the name of The Almighty and eat with your right (hand) and eat what is near you.'" (Bukhari, Muslim)

From Abu Huraira (raa): "The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) never found fault with food. If he liked something, he ate it, but if he disliked it, he (just) abstained from it. (Bukhari, Muslim)

From ba Ka'b bin Malik, from his father: "The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) used to eat with three fingers, and he licked his hand before he wiped it." (Muslim)
From Anas (raa): "When The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) ate food, he used to lick his three fingers and he said: 'When one of you drops a morsel, he should remove the dirt from it and eat it, and should not leave it for the Satan.' And he ordered us to wipe the bowl. He said: 'You do not know in which (part) of your food is the 'Baraka' (Blessing)." (Muslim)

From Ali Abbas (raa): "I heard The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) say, 'The believer is not he who eats his fill while his neighbor is hungry.'" (Bukhari, Muslim)
From Abu Huraira (raa): "The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) said: 'Food for two is sufficient for three, and the food for three is sufficient for four.'" (Bukhari, Muslim)
From Umar (raa): The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) said: "Eat together, and do not separate, for the blessing is in the company." (ar Maja)

From Ja'far bin Muhammed, from his father: Abu Karima al-Mikdad arma Ma'dikarib (raa) said that he heard The Almighty's Messenger (pbuh) say: "No man fills a vessel which is worse than his stomach. Sufficient for the son of Adam are a few mouthfuls to keep his back upright, but if it has to be more, then let one third (be left) for his breathing." (Tirmidhi)

Hazrat Zaid bin Sabit (R.A.A.) says, "Once we ate 'Sahri (breakfast before dawn during Ramadhan) with the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) and then stood up for the morning salat. He was asked as to what was the interval between the two. He said: 'The time required for the recital of fifty verses (Of the Holy Quran). (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat alad 'Umar (R.A.A.) relates that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) had two Muezzins (Callers for prayers). One was Hazrat Bilal (R.A.A.) and the other was Hazrat ar Ume Maktum (R.A.A.) The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: 'Bilal (R.A.A.) calls the Azan (a bit earlier) when it is still night. Therefore, continue eating and drinking till Ibn Umm Maktum (R.A.A.) calls it.' He said there was in fact only a brief interval between the two when one descended and the other ascended (the high platform). (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat 'Amr bin Al-Aas (R.A.A.) says that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "The only distinguishing factor between our fasting and that of the other people of the Book is Sahri (i.e. Christians and Jews who do not eat pre-dawn breakfast)." (Muslim)
Hazrat Jabir (R.A.A.) relates that he heard the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) says: "If a person takes the name of The Almighty when he enters his house and when he eats, Satan tells his companions: 'Let us go. There is no room for you to pass the night in this house without calling the name of The Almighty.' Satan says to his companions: 'You have at least secured lodging.' Then if he does not remember The Almighty at the time of eating also, Satan says: 'You have secured both lodging and food.' (Muslim)

continue Eating:

Hazrat Huzaifah (R.A.A.) says: Whenever we had the chance to be present with the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) while eating, we would not start. On one such occasion when we were with the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) a girl came in rushing, as if she was very hungry, and wanted to eat, but the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) caught hold of her hand. Then a villager came in and he too rushed for the food as if he was starving, but the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) held his hand too, and said: 'Satan treats that food lawful for himself on which the name of The Almighty has not been pronounced. He brought this girl in order to make this food lawful for himself through her, but I seized his hand also. Now by The Almighty in whose hand's is my life, I have Satan's hand in my grip also along with their hands.' Then he pronounced the name of The Almighty and started eating. (Muslim)

Hazrat Ayesha (R.A.) says that (once) the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) was eating in the company of six of his companions when a villager joined them and ate up the food in two morsels. On seeing this, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) remarked: 'If he had taken the name of The Almighty, the same would have sufficed for all of you.' (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Abu Mus'ud Badri (R.A.A.) says: (Once) a man prepared some food specially for the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.). Four other persons had been invited along with him. But an extra person, who had not been invited, also accompanied them. On arriving at the door of the host's house, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said to the host: 'This man has accompanied us. If you like may be permitted, otherwise he will return. The host replied: 'O Messenger, (I will not turn him back), I invite him'. (Bukhari and Muslim)
Hazrat Wahshi bin Harb (R.A.A.) relates that some of he companions of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said to him: "O Messenger (S.A.W.), we eat but don't get satisfied. He said: 'May be you eat individually.' They said: 'Yes, Sir.' He told them: 'Eat together and recite the name of The Almighty. The food will be blessed for you.'" (Abu Daud)

The fast of Ramadan according to the Qur'an and Sunnah is obligatory. The evidence from the Qur'an consists of the following two verses:

'O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for the people before you in order for you to gain God-consciousness..."

"...The month of Ramadan, during which the Qur'an was revealed, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance and the criterion; and whoever of you is resident, let him fast the month." (Qur'an 2:185)

From the Sunnah we have the following statements of the Holy Prophet (pbuh):

"Islam is built upon [the following] five pillars: testifying that there is no God except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger, the establishment of the prayer, the giving of zakah, the fast of Ramadan and the pilgrimage to Makkah."

Talhah ibn 'Ubaidullah reported that a man came to the Prophet (pbuh) and said:
"O Messenger of Allah, tell me what Allah requires of me as regards fasting." He answered, 'The month of Ramadan.' The man asked: "Is there any other [fast]?" The Prophet answered: "No, unless you do so voluntarily."

Manners of the Prophet

Do not delay helping the weak, the destitute, and women, and walk with them without haughtiness nor pride.

Have mercy on people and animals so that Allah will have mercy on you.

Love for people what you love for yourself.

Be neat in your appearance and clothing.

Be courageous and say the truth, even to your detriment.

Be patient when people hurt you and forgive them so that Allah will forgive you.

Leave indecency, which is all that is ugly and evil of word and deed.

Manners of the Prophet

Do not speak with arrogance nor dryness, and do not use indecent language even in jest.

Always speak peacefully, and make your speech sweet.

Sleep early and wake up early for worship and diligent work.

Read the Qur'an with measure and understanding, and listen to it if someone else reads it.

Do not be late at the congregational prayer in the mosque.

Modesty is part of faith.

DEAR ADMIN,

Thank U FOR THE PRAISE, IT ALL RTURNS TO ALLAH.

"MODESTY IS PART OF FAITH"

SHOWS THAT WE ALL ARE SERVANTS OF ALLAH, WE HAVE TO BE MODEST, BECAUSE ALLAH IS THE ONE WHO GIVES GOOD THINGS AND TAKES FROM US WHATEVER HE WANTS, WHENEVER HE WANTS, WHEREEVER HE WANTS, ITS HIS OWN MAJISTY THIS IS FOR A CERTAIN REASON, ONLY ALLAH KNOWS WHY?
SO WE HAVE TO SHOW MODESTY AND GRATITUDE TO ALLAH, AVOID BEING SO PROUD, CAUSE IT ALL REFFERS TO ALLAH THE GREATEST.

AL SALAM ALAIKOM
MAY ALLAH BLESS U

Manners of the Prophet

One who tries to help the widow and the poor is like the warrior in the way of Allah.

The seeking of knowledge is a must for every Muslim man and woman.

Give gifts to one another, for gifts take away malice.

Allah is polite and likes politeness.

The young should say 'Salam' to the old, the passerby to the one sitting, and the small group to the large.

A view of the manners of the prophet

No one has ever eaten better food than what he eats from the work done by his own hands.

Beware of envy, for envy devours good deeds like fire devours dry wood.

He who truly believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or keep silen.

When someone has had good done to him and says to the doer 'May Allah reward you', he has done the utmost in praise.

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The night Allah's Apostle was taken for a journey from the sacred mosque (of Mecca) Al-Ka'ba: Three persons came to him (in a dreamy while he was sleeping in the Sacred Mosque before the Divine Inspiration was revealed to Him. One of them said, "Which of them is he?" The middle (second) angel said, "He is the best of them." The last (third) angle said, "Take the best of them." Only that much happened on that night and he did not see them till they came on another night, i.e. after The Divine Inspiration was revealed to him. (Fateh-Al-Bari Page 258, Vol. 17) and he saw them, his eyes were asleep but his heart was not----and so is the case with the prophets: their eyes sleep while their hearts do not sleep. So those angels did not talk to him till they carried him and placed him beside the well of Zam-Zam. From among them Gabriel took charge of him. Gabriel cut open (the part of his body) between his throat and the middle of his chest (heart) and took all the material out of his chest and abdomen and then washed it with Zam-Zam water with his own hands till he cleansed the inside of his body, and then a gold tray containing a gold bowl full of belief and wisdom was brought and then Gabriel stuffed his chest and throat blood vessels with it and then closed it (the chest). He then ascended with him to the heaven of the world and knocked on one of its doors.

The dwellers of the Heaven asked, 'Who is it?' He said, "Gabriel." They said, "Who is accompanying you?" He said, "Muhammad." They said, "Has he been called?" He said, "Yes" They said, "He is welcomed." So the dwellers of the Heaven became pleased with his arrival, and they did not know what Allah would do to the Prophet on earth unless Allah informed them. The Prophet met Adam over the nearest Heaven. Gabriel said to the Prophet, "He is your father; greet him." The Prophet greeted him and Adam returned his greeting and said, "Welcome, O my Son! O what a good son you are!" Behold, he saw two flowing rivers, while he was in the nearest sky. He asked, "What are these two rivers, O Gabriel?" Gabriel said, "These are the sources of the Nile and the Euphrates."

Then Gabriel took him around that Heaven and behold, he saw another river at the bank of which there was a palace built of pearls and emerald. He put his hand into the river and found its mud like musk Adhfar. He asked, "What is this, O Gabriel?" Gabriel said, "This is the Kauthar which your Lord has kept for you." Then Gabriel ascended (with him) to the second Heaven and the angels asked the same questions as those on the first Heaven, i.e., "Who is it?" Gabriel replied, "Gabriel". They asked, "Who is accompanying you?" He said, "Muhammad." They asked, "Has he been sent for?" He said, "Yes." Then they said, "He is welcomed.'' Then he (Gabriel) ascended with the Prophet to the third Heaven, and the angels said the same as the angels of the first and the second Heavens had said.
Then he ascended with him to the fourth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the fifth Heaven and they said the same; and then he ascended with him to the sixth Heaven and they said the same; then he ascended with him to the seventh Heaven and they said the same. On each Heaven there were prophets whose names he had mentioned and of whom I remember Idris on the second Heaven, Aaron on the fourth Heavens another prophet whose name I don't remember, on the fifth Heaven, Abraham on the sixth Heaven, and Moses on the seventh Heaven because of his privilege of talking to Allah directly. Moses said (to Allah), "O Lord! I thought that none would be raised up above me."

But Gabriel ascended with him (the Prophet) for a distance above that, the distance of which only Allah knows, till he reached the Lote Tree (beyond which none may pass) and then the Irresistible, the Lord of Honor and Majesty approached and came closer till he (Gabriel) was about two bow lengths or (even) nearer. (It is said that it was Gabriel who approached and came closer to the Prophet. (Fate Al-Bari Page 263, 264, Vol. 17). Among the things which Allah revealed to him then, was: "Fifty prayers were enjoined on his followers in a day and a night."

Then the Prophet descended till he met Moses, and then Moses stopped him and asked, "O Muhammad ! What did your Lord en join upon you?" The Prophet replied," He enjoined upon me to perform fifty prayers in a day and a night." Moses said, "Your followers cannot do that; Go back so that your Lord may reduce it for you and for them." So the Prophet turned to Gabriel as if he wanted to consult him about that issue. Gabriel told him of his opinion, saying, "Yes, if you wish." So Gabriel ascended with him to the Irresistible and said while he was in his place, "O Lord, please lighten our burden as my followers cannot do that." So Allah deducted for him ten prayers where upon he returned to Moses who stopped him again and kept on sending him back to his Lord till the enjoined prayers were reduced to only five prayers.

Then Moses stopped him when the prayers had been reduced to five and said, "O Muhammad! By Allah, I tried to persuade my nation, Bani Israel to do less than this, but they could not do it and gave it up. However, your followers are weaker in body, heart, sight and hearing, so return to your Lord so that He may lighten your burden."
The Prophet turned towards Gabriel for advice and Gabriel did not disapprove of that. So he ascended with him for the fifth time. The Prophet said, "O Lord, my followers are weak in their bodies, hearts, hearing and constitution, so lighten our burden." On that the Irresistible said, "O Muhammad!" the Prophet replied, "Labbaik and Sa'daik." Allah said, "The Word that comes from Me does not change, so it will be as I enjoined on you in the Mother of the Book." Allah added, "Every good deed will be rewarded as ten times so it is fifty (prayers) in the Mother of the Book (in reward) but you are to perform only five (in practice)."

The Prophet returned to Moses who asked, "What have you done?" He said, "He has lightened our burden: He has given us for every good deed a tenfold reward." Moses said, "By Allah! I tried to make Bani Israel observe less than that, but they gave it up. So go back to your Lord that He may lighten your burden further." Allah's Apostle said, "O Moses! By Allah, I feel shy of returning too many times to my Lord." On that Gabriel said, "Descend in Allah's Name." The Prophet then woke while he was in the Sacred Mosque (at Mecca).

'Ali reported that Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said to him: Say," O Allaah, direct me to the right path and make me adhere to the straight path," and when you make a mention of right guidance, keep in mind the right path and when you consider of the straight (path), keep in mind the straightness of the arrow (Muslim, 6573).

Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: He who saw me in a dream in fact saw me, for the satan does not appear in my form. (Muslim, 5635)

Narrated by Abu Ya'la ibn Shaddad ibn Aws: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A wise person is one who keeps a watch over his bodily desires and passions, and checks himself from that which is harmful and strives for that which will benefit him after death; and a foolish person is one who subordinates himself to his cravings and desires and expects from Allah the fulfilment of his futile desires (Tirmidhi 66).

Narrated Imran bin Husain:

A man said, "O Allah's Apostle! Can the people of Paradise be known (differentiated) from the people of the Fire; The Prophet replied, "Yes." The man said, "Why do people (try to) do (good) deeds?" The Prophet said, "Everyone will do the deeds for which he has been created to do or he will do those deeds which will be made easy for him to do." (i.e. everybody will find easy to do such deeds as will lead him to his destined place for which he has been created).

***

Narrated 'Ali:

While we were sitting with the Prophet who had a stick with which he was scraping the earth, he lowered his head and said, "There is none of you but has his place assigned either in the Fire or in Paradise." Thereupon a man from the people said, "Shall we not depend upon this, O Allah's Apostle?" The Prophet said, "No, but carry on and do your deeds, for everybody finds it easy to do such deeds (as will lead him to his place)." The Prophet then recited the Verse: 'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah..' (92.5)
