Chapter 164: THE PRAYER OF THE TWO 'IDS
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1923:
Ibn 'Abbas reported: I participated in the Fitr prayer with the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Uthman, and all of them observed this prayer before the Khutba, and then he (the Holy Prophet) delivered the sermon. Then the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) descended (from the pulpit) and I (perceive) as if I am seeing him as he is commanding people with his hand to sit down. He then made his way through their (assembly) till he came to the women. Bilal was with him. He then recited (this verse): O Prophet, when believing women come to thee giving thee a pledge that they will not associate aught with Allah" (lx. 12) till he finished (his address to) them and then said: Do you conform to it (what has been described in the verse)? Only one woman among them replied: Yes, Apostle of Allah, but none else replied. He (the narrator) said: It could not be ascertained who actually she was. He (the Holy Prophet) exhorted them to give alms. Bilal stretched his cloth and then said: Come forward with alms. Let my father and mother be taken as ransom for you. And they began to throw rings and ringlets in the cloth of Bilal.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1924:
Ibn 'Abbas reported: I bear testimony to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) offering prayer before Kbutba. He (after saying prayer) delivered the Kutba, and he found that the women could not hear it, so he came to them and exhorted them and preached them and commanded them to give alms, and Bilal had stretched his cloth and the women were throwing rings, earrings and other things. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ayyub with the same chain of transmitters.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1925:
Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported: The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) stood up on the day of 'Id al-Fitr and observed prayer. And he commenced the prayer before the sermon. He then delivered the sermon. When the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) had finished (the sermon) he came down from (the pulpit), and made his way to the women and exhorted them (to do good acts), and he was leaning on the hand of Bilal. Bilal had stretched his cloth in which women were throwing alms. I (one of the narrators) said to 'Ata' (the other narrator): It must be Zakat on the day of Fitr. He ('Ata') said: No. It was alms (which) they were giving on that occasion, and a woman gave her ring, and then others gave, and then others gave. I said to 'Ata': Is It right now for the Imam to come to the women when he has finished (his address to the men) that he should exhort them (to good deeds)? He said: (Why not) by my life, it is right for them (to do so). What is the matter with them that they do not do it now?
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1926:
Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported: I observed prayer with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) on the 'Id day. He commenced with prayer before the sermon without Adhan and Iqama. He then stood up leaning on Bilal, and he commanded (them) to be on guard (against evil for the sake of) Allah, and he exhorted (them) on obedience to Him, and he preached to the people and admonished them. He then walked on till he came to the women and preached to them and admonished them, and asked them to give alms, for most of them are the fuel for Hell. A woman having a dark spot on the cheek stood up and said: Why is it so, Messenger of Allah? He said: For you grumble often and show ingratitude to your spouse. And then they began to give alms out of their ornaments such as their earrings and rings which they threw on to the cloth of Bilal.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1927:
Ibn 'Abbas and Jaibir b. 'Abdullah al-Ansari reported: There was no Adhan on the (occasion) of Id-ul-Fitr and Id-ul-Adha. I (Ibn Juraij) said: I asked him after some time about it. He ('Ata', one of the narrators) said: Jabir b. 'Abdullah al-Ansari told me: There is neither any Adhan on Id-ul-Fitr when the Imam comes out, nor even after his coming out; their is neither lqama nor call nor anything of the sort of calling on that day and nor Iqama.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1928:
'Ata' reported that Ibn 'Abbas sent (him) to Ibn Zubair at the commencement of the oath of allegiance to him (for Caliphate saying): As there is no Adhan on 'Id-ul-Fitr, so you should not pronounce it. Ibn Zubair did not pronounce Adhan on that day. He (Ibn 'Abbas) also sent him (with this message) that sermon (is to be delivered) after the prayer, and thus it was done. So lbn Zubair observed prayer before Khutba.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1929:
Jabir b. Samura said: I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) prayers on two I'ds wore than once or twice without there being Adhan and Iqama.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1930:
Ibn 'Umar reported that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), Abu Bakr and 'Umar used to observe the two 'Id prayers before the sermon.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1931:
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) used to go out on the day of Adha and on the day of Fitr and commenced the prayer. And after having observed his prayer and pronounced the salutation, he stood up facing people as they were seated at their places of worship. And if he intended to send out an army he made mention of it to the people, and if he intended any other thing besides it, he commanded them (to do that). He used to say (to the people): Give alms, give alms, give alms, and the majority that gave alms was of women. He then returned and this (practice) remained (in vogue) till Marwan b. al- Hakam (came into power). I went out hand in hand with Marwan till we came to the place of worship and there Kathir b. Salt had built a pulpit of clay and brick. Marwan began to tug me with his hand as though he were pulling me towards the pulpit, while I was pulling him towards the prayer. When I saw him doing that I said: What has happened to the practice of beginning with prayer? He said: No, Abu Sa'id, what you are familiar with has been abandoned. I thereupon said (three times and went back): By no means, by Him in Whose hand my life is, you are not doing anything better than what I am familiar with.

Chapter 165: PERMISSIBILITY OF WOMEN'S GOING OUT ON 'ID DAYS TOWARDS THE PLACE OF WORSHIP AND THEIR PRESENCE IN THE KHUTBA (SITTING) AT A DISTANCE FROM MEN
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1932:
Umm 'Atiyya said: He (the Apostle of Allah) commanded us that we should take out unmarried women and purdah-observing ladies for 'Id prayers, and he commanded the menstruating women to remain away from the place of worship of the Muslims.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1933:
Umm Atiyya reported: We were commanded to bring out on old days purdah-observing ladies and those unmarried, and menstruating women came out but remained behind people and pronounced takbir (Allah-o-Akbar) along with them.
________________________________________
Book 004, Number 1934:
Umm 'Atiyya reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) commanded us to bring out on'Id-ul-Fitr and 'Id-ul-Adha young women, menstruating women and purdah-observing ladies, menstruating women kept back from prayer, but participated in goodness and supplication of the Muslims. I said: Messenger of Allah, one of us does not have an outer garment (to cover her face and body). He said: Let her sister cover her with her outer garment.

PostSubject: HADEETH ABOUT RAMADAN 2   Mon Aug 10, 2009 4:24 pm

Advising the great Sahabi Abu Tharr al-Ghifari, may
Allah be pleased with him, regarding the fast being a
protection against the fire, he (pbuh) is quoted saying,
“Shall I inform you of a deed which, if you do it, will
keep Satan away from you as much as the distance
between the east of the earth and the west?” People
answered, “O yes, indeed, O Messenger of Allah!” He
(pbuh) said, “Fast darkens his (Satan’s) face; alms
break his back; the desire to please Allah and the giving
of assistance to do good deeds cut his tail off, and seeking
Allah’s forgiveness cuts off his aorta.”

Then he added, “For everything there is purification
(zakat), and the purification of bodies is the
fast.” He (pbuh) is also quoted saying, “One who fasts
is considered to adore his Creator even while sleeping
on his bed as long as he does not backbite any Muslim.”
He (pbuh) has also said, “There are two merry occasions
for anyone who performs the fast: one when he
breaks his fast: and one when he meets his Lord, the
Exalted, the Almighty. I swear by the One Who controls
Muhammad’s life, the excess on the mouth of one who fasts is better in the sight of Allah than the sweet smell of musk.

” He (pbuh) has also said that the Exalted and Almighty has said
(in a Hadithe-Qudsi) that all good deeds of a descendant of Adam are His (to reward) “except the fast, for it is
mine, and I shall reward for it. All good deeds of the son of Adam are rewarded with ten to seven
hundred times except perseverance, for it is mine and I reward for it.” So, the knowledge of the
rewards of perseverance is with Allah, and “perseverance” means fast.

PostSubject: HADEETH ABOUT RAMADAN 3   Wed Aug 12, 2009 8:17 pm

Virtues of Fasting

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of God (pbuh), saying:
"Allah said 'Every action of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for that is solely for Me. I give the reward for it. The fast is a shield."
"If one is fasting, he should not use foul language, raise his voice, or behave foolishly. If someone reviles him or fights with him, he should say, 'I am fasting,' twice."
"By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the [bad] breath of the one who is fasting is better in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection than the smell of musk."
"The one who is fasting is happy at two times: when he breaks his fast he is happy with it, and when he meets his Lord he will be happy that he has fasted."
This is related by Ahmad, Muslim, and an-Nasa'i.

A similar version was recorded by al-Bukhari and Abu Dawud, but with the following addition:
"He leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake. His fasting is for Me ...I will give the reward for it, and for every good deed, he will receive ten similar to it."
Abdullah ibn Amr reported that the Messenger of God (pbuh) said:
"The fast and the Qur'an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: 'O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.' The Qur'an will say: 'I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.' And their intercession will be accepted." Ahmad related this hadith with a sahih chain.
Abu Umamah reported: "I came to the Messenger of God and said: 'Order me to do a deed that will allow me to enter Paradise.' He said: 'Stick to fasting, as there is no equivalent to it.' Then I came to him again and he said: 'Stick to fasting'."
Abu Said al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of God said: "No servant fasts on a day in the path of Allah except that Allah removes the hellfire seventy years further away from his face."

Sahl ibn Sa'd reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "There is a gate to Paradise that is called ar-Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection it will say: 'Where are those who fasted?' When the last [one] has passed through the gate, it will be locked." This is related by al- Bukhari and Muslim.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): One who while fasting does not guard his tongue from telling lies and does not refrain from bad deeds, is not respecting his fast. Allah does not approve of mere abstention from food. He (pbuh), also said: Fast and you shall be healthy.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): When you are fasting, you should not speak ill of anybody, nor should you be rough and noisy. If anybody speaks ill of you or tries to pick a quarrel with you, reply him not, but say to him that you are fasting.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): A person gets the same reward by reciting in this month, one
verse of the Holy Qur’an, as others do by reciting the whole of the Qur’an in other months.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): Whoever is prevented from food that he likes, because of his fast, Allah will feed him from the food of Heaven and from its drink.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): If people understood what good there was in Ramadan, they would have liked that it last for a year.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): Unfortunate is the person who is deprived of the forgiveness of Allah during this great month.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): Whoever is not forgiven in the month of Ramadan, and then in which month will he be forgiven?

Imam Ali (pbuh): The sleep of a fasting person is worship, his silence is glorification (of Allah), his prayers are answered and his actions are multiplied.

Imam Ali (pbuh): Many persons get nothing out of their fasts but hunger and thirst; many more
get nothing out of their night prayers but exertions and sleepless nights. Wise and sagacious persons are praiseworthy even if they do not fast and sleep during the nights.

Imam Ali (pbuh): The prayer of a fasting person at the time of Iftar is never rejected.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (pbuh): O Jabir! Whoever during the month of Ramadan, fasts in its days, stands up for prayers in parts of the night, controls his desires and emotions, puts a rein on his tongue, keeps his eyes down, and does not injure the feelings of others, will become as free of sins as the day he was born.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (pbuh): Everything has a spring and the spring of the Qur’an is
the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (pbuh): The day of your fast should not be like any ordinary day. When you fast, all your senses - eyes, ears, tongue, hands and feet must fast with you.
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (pbuh): There are two pleasures for a fasting person; one when he breaks his fast, and one when he meets his Lord.

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (pbuh): Fasting is a protection from the fire.

PostSubject: RAMADAN / New Moon--siightt iing Du’’a   Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:28 am

New Moon--siightt iing Du’’a ⭐

It is obligatory to see the first night moon of the Holy month of Ramadan. When the crescent is sighted, turn towards Qiblah, raising hands towards the sky, address it as under:

My Lord and your Lord is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. O Allah for us let this month be a period of peace, faith safety and total submission to Thy will; make us walk apace swiftly to that which Thou like and approves. O Allah pour out much blessings on us in this month, make available for us its generous good and assistance, and keep us safe from the harm, evil, misfortune and mischief that may try to trap us in this month.

The following Du’a may be recited at the time of breaking one’s fast: cheers

(O my Allah, for Thee, I fast, and with the food Thou gives me I break the fast,
and I rely on Thee).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Imam Ali (pbuh) used to recite the following du’a before Iftar: cheers

(In the name of Allah, O Allah, we fast, and with the food Thou gives us we break the fast, an obligation we fulfill, and Thou art Hearer, Knower)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While taking the first mouthful recite: cheers

(In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, O He whose indulgence is boundless, forgive me)

PostSubject: HADEETH ABOUT RAMADAN 5   Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:05 am

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "The blessed month has come to you. Allah has opened the gates of paradise and closed the gates of hellfire, and the devils are chained. There is a night [during this month] which is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its good is really deprived [of something great]."
Abu Sa'id al Khudri reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan, obeying all of its limitations and guarding himself against what is forbidden, has in fact atoned for any sins he committed before it."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Arrival of Ramadan

This event is confirmed by sighting the new moon, even if it is seen by only one just person, or by the passage of thirty days in the immediately preceding month of Shaban. Ibn 'Umar said: "The people were looking for the new moon and when I reported to the Messenger of Allah that I had seen it, he fasted and ordered the people to fast."

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (pbuh) instructed: "Fast after you have seen it [the new crescent] and end the fast [at the end of the month] when you see it. If it is hidden from you, then wait until the thirty days of Sha'ban have passed." This is related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
