I always remeber my first Ramadan as a Muslim at my workplace. At that time I didn't know how to balance the work and my religious duties. Now I found online a guide for the worker Muslim in the special time of Ramadan. I will try to resume some concepts in here in order to help the new Muslims to understand the importance of Ramadan while working.
1. Our Propher (SWS) taught us that we need to be balanced and harmonised between our worship and work. Muslims have to remain constant in act of worship and, also to work hard to earn a living and support their families.
2. Ramadan should not be used as an excuse for not working to one's usual level of commitement and productivity.
3. The fact that you are fasting should not affect your work.
HOW DO I STAY FOCUSED AT WORK WHILE I AM FASTING?
1. Concentration lasts for about 40 - 50 minutes and after that a shorter break is required. If you feel your energy is down then go to the bathroom and wash your face.
2. During the lunch hour at your workplace, take a walk outside and raise your oxygen levels.
3. Make sure that your space is well ventilated.
4. Be mindful of why you are fasting.
5. You have to approach Ramadan with a positive attitude.
6. Good time management is an excellent way to enjoy a more meaningful Ramadan.
7. Physical activities and a good, well balanced diet are important to avoid feeling tired.
EAT PROPERLY - DO NOT RESORT TO TAKE-AWAYS
1. "Eat of the good and the wholesome things that We have provided for your sustenance, but indulge in no excess therein. (Qur'aan, 20: 81)
2. Not eating suhur and iftar properly may make you irritable or ill.
3. Work out your personal Ramadan meal plan and stick to it.
4. Cook as much in advance as you can.
5. Choose healthy, easy-to-make recipes, so you are not rushing for something to eat at the last minute.
